Rooted In His Word.
Preparing for His Work.
Choosing the right learning environment for your middle school-level child (5th through 7th grade equivalent) is an important decision. You're not simply enrolling your child in a school. You are building their community, setting their standards, and shaping them for life.
Our enrollment process is designed to help families experience our forest school while allowing us to ensure a strong mutual fit.

Email kadesha@remnantvillage.org to schedule a walk-through.
Here's the process:
Step 1: Get to know us
Your journey begins with a visit to our home-based, two-acre property in Thorn Creek Forest Preserve. Your family may visit during an open house or by scheduling a walk-through. This is your opportunity to explore our learning space, assess our approach, and ask questions. You’ll see where students learn, build, cook, collaborate, and grow. You can't read about forest school. You have to experience it.
Step 2: Family enrollment form
If Remnant seems like a fit, you will be sent an enrollment form. This that helps us get to know your family better. This includes information about your child’s learning history, interests, strengths, and needs, as well as your family’s values and goals. This step explains how your child might be supported and challenged within our small, multi-age learning community.
Step 3: In-Person Meeting
For Core Classes only. For Skill School, skip to step 4
Next, we will schedule an in-person interview with families who want to enroll in core classes. Because these are leveled academic classes, we need to aligned on expectations, learning styles, and how our approach aligns with your family values. We will take baseline information on your child's strengths, needs, and their ability to learn outdoors. Our goal is to confirm that Remnant Nature Academy is a healthy and supportive fit for everyone involved.
Step 4: Confirm Your Spot
Families who are accepted into their class(es) of interest will receive an official welcome letter along with instructions to submit the enrollment deposit. Once the deposit is received, your child’s space is secured.
